Timothy Youngs, a 20-year-old carpenter from Santa Rosa, saw a need for an online service where builders could buy and sell excess building tools, equipment and materials.
So a year ago he started Exchange Bucket. Those who use the free classified service can locate or sell a variety of building materials.
“It’s a great place for people who like to do their own projects,” he said. That includes professional builders and do-it-yourself types.
Youngs recently went to a home show to alert builders to his site, which is supported by ads. Exchange Bucket now mainly carries items for sale at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Santa Rosa. But he has hopes that one day builders across the country will use the site.
To those who ask why he has yet to run free ads for more items, he responds that it’s because “you haven’t gone through your garage and posted anything yet.”
