Santa Rosa’s California Human Development Corporation is one of a score of groups around the state that together will receive more than $3 million in aid for counseling homeowners at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure.
The funds come from a federal grant awarded to the California Housing Finance Agency, the 20-plus HUD-approved counseling groups and the Rural Community Assistance Corporation.
Homeowners can receive the counseling if they have defaulted or are in danger of defaulting on their mortgages.
The counseling program is one part of CalHFA’s effort to help homeowners.
The agency is also administering Keep Your Home California, a $2 billion program to offer help to homeowners who are trying to keep their homes. The program’s website is www.KeepYourHomeCalifornia.org.
