1116 Halyard Dr, Santa Rosa - $2,600/month
4 beds, 2.5 baths, 1,830 square feet.
Exterior. (Photo courtesy of Kelley Rentals)
This 4 bedroom home is on the corner of a cul-de-sac, a great choice for a family with small kids. This is mostly because neighbors in a court know each other a bit better since the houses are situated facing across from one another (this is a first-person observation, not saying it's true across the board). There's also a good-sized backyard, but you've got to see the kitchen. Click to check it out...

Here's the view you get from the kitchen into the living room. The pictures were taken with the furniture in place, but the home is being rented unfurnished, so you'll still have to move your stuff in. Click to see the living room...

The living room is nicely appointed, and this picture gives you a good idea of how you can set up your furniture on move-in day. Scroll for the next property...

2373 Vera Dr, Santa Rosa - $2,700/month
4 beds, 2 baths, 1,343 square feet.
Exterior. (Photo courtesy of Landlord)
This 4 bedroom house looks like it would be cramped, but it has 1,343 square feet of space inside. If you were doubling the price of a two bedroom apartment, this would be far less plus you get a backyard (and no shared walls). Click to see the living room...

The living room is right next to the kitchen, making it a comfortable way for family members to have a conversation while dinner's cooking. There is a $120 per month for a mandatory gardener, so you'd never need to worry about guests showing up and the yard being a mess. Scroll to see the next house...

2070 Pinercrest Dr, Santa Rosa - $2,400/month
3 beds 2.5 baths 1,559 square feet.
Exterior. (Photo courtesy of Kelley Rentals)
At $2,400 a month, this three bedroom house seems like it would be a good deal, but there aren't any additional images in the listing, which sometimes makes me wonder what could possibly be wrong. Well leave this one as a 'maybe', click to see the next house...

2754 Arabian Ln, Santa Rosa - $2,400/month
3 beds, 2 baths, 1,157 square feet.
Exterior. (Photo courtesy of Landlord)
Here's a solid home in what looks like a fairly quiet neighborhood. It's three bedrooms, but it's a single story, which is helpful for those with mobility issues, or for anyone who just really, really, really doesn't want to climb stairs - which I completely understand. Scroll to see the living room...

There's a gas inert fireplace, which is one of the greatest inventions when you live in an area that frequently has 'Spare the Air' days. Also, cleaning a chimney is dirty work. Click to see another rental home...

3 beds, 3 baths, 1,493 square feet.

While I'm no fan of stairways, this newer home (2013) seems like a great find for any renter - whether it's a family, a couple, or roommates. Scroll to see why the kids would like it...

This backyard is immaculate, and that's definitely a barbecue I see in the back. My only concern is that a renter may start judging potential homes to buy against this one and not find one quite up to par (or budget). Click to check out the last house on this list...

Here's another cul-de-sac home for a family looking to rent something in a quiet neighborhood. It's an older (but not old) tract home that looks like a good place to stay while saving up for a house. Scroll to see the inside...

From the interior, I'd hedge late 70s, early 80s - also, many of the other homes in the area were built in 1987 or so, so I'll go with it. Big, open entryways such as this give any house a spacious feeling, so any renter who's moving in from an apartment will enjoy this.
