Own a piece of history! The stylish mid-century modern home of the late great Henry Trione is on the market for $3,450,000.

Not from Sonoma County, who is Henry Trione you may ask? Along with a few other post-war powerhouses, Trione pretty much built Santa Rosa. He was a mortgage broker, financier, lumberman and vintner who dominated the world of business for decades, starting during the baby boom and continuing for years after.

His stamp can be seen all over Sonoma County and most remarkably on the state park that currently bears his name. Back in the late 60s, he put together the deal to preserve the open space on the far east reaches of Santa Rosa for all to enjoy.  He threw in a million big ones to secure the $5 million dollar  property now called Trione-Annadel State Park.

A decade later, he commissioned a Mad-Men style  palace with dramatic views of the park land he so loved.   The all-redwood home was constructed by famed architect Germano Milano, and to this day it remains a timeless testament to the enduring quality of the mid-century style.

The sophisticated estate features a library, great room, chef’s kitchen, breakfast area, formal dining room and master suite with two baths.

But don’t get lost on the interior of the home, the outside is equally impressive with spacious decks and patios, well-kept landscaping and a sparkling pool area with million dollar views of the Valley of the Moon, vineyards and the community that Trione helped build.

All this and roughly four acres of surrounding land – you get a real feel for the peace and privacy that Trione must have felt coming home to this modern masterpiece after a hard day’s work.
