James Madison

James Madison, an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Santa Rosa, has been ranked as one the nation’s top real estate agents for sales last year, according to the Wall Street Journal and REAL Trends.

Madison ranked 134th among 250 top agents in terms of transactions completed in 2011. He was credited for 161.6 transaction sides.

Madison has made the list before. In 2008, he ranked 10th in the nation for completed transactions. That year his name was listed as the buyer’s or seller’s agent for one in every 10 homes sold in Sonoma County.

The Journal’s annual rankings list the top 250 agents and teams in four separate categories: individual sales volume, individual transaction sides, team sales volume and team transaction sides.

“Year in and year out, James has proven to be one of the hardest working and most successful agents in the North Bay,” said Rick Turley, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “Becoming a member of such an elite group is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to his dedication and commitment to providing incomparable service.”

Madison has worked with bank-owned properties for 30 years.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage reported it had the strongest showing of any real estate company in the Bay Area, with 24 agents and teams in the region making the Journal’s list.

The company is the largest residential real estate brokerage in Northern California and serves markets from Monterey to Lake Tahoe. It has 62 office locations and more than 3,600 sales associates throughout Northern California.

Last year the company reported handling more 13.5 percent of all dollar volume sold in Northern California, more than double its nearest competitor.
